If you are reading this page, chances are either that you have been diagnosed with high blood pressure or are worried that you are at risk for it. You have good reason to be concerned: according to the National Institutes of Health, about 1 in 3 adults in the United States have high blood pressure (hypertension), as do nearly 20% of young people in their 20s and 30s. Sadly, hypertension is usually called "the silent killer": most people who have it don’t even realize it because high blood pressure often causes no symptoms even as it is doing damage within your body.
As an AADP Certified Health Coach, I can tell you that the effects of high blood pressure are serious! If left untreated, hypertension can lead to, among other things, heart attack, stroke, cardiovascular disease, eye damage, and kidney disease. Recent studies have shown it can even increase the chance of getting dementia!
